What Does Toyota Brake Caliper Replacement Cost on Average?

Replacing brake calipers on just about any car or truck can get pricey, fast. On average, they can run you anywhere from $760 to around $1,000, but that's at least.

Typically, costs can be a little better for smaller cars like Toyota Corolla -- around $600, most of the time. Drive a truck like Toyota Tacoma, though, and you can expect a lot worse: $900 or so, sometimes more.

1. Try not to hard-stop.
This puts a lot of (and frequent) strain on brakes. That'll only mean more wear and tear, and sooner. Instead, when it's safe, try to coast to slow down.

2. Don't "two-foot."
This means don't ride your gas and brake pedals at the same time. Hitting the brakes while speeding up just wears on them -- it doesn't stop the car.

3. "Run light" when you can.
In other words, don't leave heavy cargo in your trunk if you don't have to. You won't have to brake as hard, and that'll mean less brake wear.

4. Bleed your brakes.
This means get rid of excess air and moisture in the fluid and lines. It's something you ought to do every 2 years. That air and moisture builds up, on the other hand, and your brakes won't work as well; you'll have to brake harder and more often, meaning worse wear.
